It's pretty long due to the ogive so it would be hard to fit it into a revolver cylinder. However, it seems to me like you could make a damn nice .44 Mag lever gun round with this bullet. This 240-grain solid from Cutting Edge limits the depth of the crimp, but proved adequate.Not sure, but I bet the difference in the older data and newer is changes in the bullet itself. I know they look different now. The 240 gr. 44 bullet "looks" like the "mag" bullet in 45. I still have a few of the older 44's and they appear to have thinner jackets. A call to Hornady would probably answer the question.

Remington list the 180 grain UMC jacketed soft point at a rated velocity of 1610fps from a 4” barrel (above 2100fps in 20” barreled rifles). Gone is the Remington UMC 180 grain semi jacketed hollow point.

When loading the Hornady 225-grain FTX bullet, cases should be trimmed to 1.255 inch for a cartridge overall length of 1.645 inch. Another option is to use the standard length .44 Magnum case (between 1.275 to 1.285 inch) and seat the bullet to around 1.645 inch, then apply a stout taper crimp as a separate step.

Hodgdon website calls for 19.4min to 21.5max grains. Problem I have for their data they are using Winchester cases trimmed to 1.28. These once fired Hornady cases are 1.257 to 1.26.
